Harry Potter is out. Well.. i didnt make a reservation for a copy, thou i deed intend to.. but never mind.. pearlyn has a copy. i will borrow from her and read then get my copy.

infact.. its rather book addict. which do some good to my brain. exercising the grammar skills? vocab? and best of all my imagination is running wild.
im reading trudi cavanan lately. on her series of The Black Magicians. At first, i thought the author was a he, but instead its a she!
right now, im soo engrossed into reading. i guess i cant help it. i spend a one fifth of my life reading? LOL.. how much im not sure.. but its pretty much.
interesting story line to me, especially its related to magic X)

The Black Magician Trilogy=
01 The Magician Guild
A girl named Sonea, was a slum girl. She joined her gang of little friends into throwing stones at the magicians in the center of the city. That day was the Purge, whereby the king has ordered the magicians to clear certain parts of the city.. (which means casting out those poor beggars out of the country). Thinking about all her suffering she endured with her auntie and uncle. She concentrated hard on the stone and threw it at one of the magicians. Surprisingly, she broke the magical barrier and had one magician by the name of Lord Fergun unconcious. That shocked Sonea as much as the magicians. Knowing that she herself had used magic despite hating magic soo much, she fled from the magicians and with the help from her good pals, Cery and Harrin, they managed to hide away from the magicians. Later on, they went to the Thieves for help, from Faren who promised to keep Sonea safe from magicians. She had no idea that the magician guild wanted to help her instead of kill her. And of cos, Sonea is very gifted. She had very strong power despite her young age. Soon.. her powers grow to the surface and she doesnt know how to control them. Then one night, when all the magicians were out of the guild, searching for her, Cery brought her into the guild to let her watch how to do somethings using magic. Yet she witnessed the High lord, Akarrin (highest ranking of all magicians in the guild) practised Black magic which is BANNED by the guild. She was horrified by the scene.
Later.. her power grew so strong that even when she's sleeping, she would burn something. Magicians have a presence which other magicians to detect if you dont hide that presence, thus with her growing powers, her presence brought all the magicians to attention. She was on the run in the streets when the magicians cornered her. That was when she met Lord Rothen. Lord Rothen managed to calm her down and use up all the power that was surfacing and brought her to the guild. Lateron, Lord Rothen had a difficult time to persuade Sonea to stay as she had a huge resentment, distrust against the magicians. Lord Fergun recovered from her attack and wanted revenge what she had done. He lured Cery to a trap and threatened Sonea. But he was exposed by Lord Dannyl (Lord Rothen's novice = which means his student). Sonea submitted to truth-read by Lord Lorlen, the Administrator of the Guild. Then after the incident Lord Fergun was punished for blackmailing and was exiled to another country called Sachaka. Also.. Lord Rothen claimed guardianship over Sonea, which means special teacher-student relation.


02 The Novice
Upon submission to truth-read, Lord Lorlen discovered Akarrin's darkest secret. He told Sonea never to reveal to anyone except Lord Rothen as he will enter Sonea's mind when teaching Sonea magic. Sonea learnt fast. She was admitted to the University as a Novice and started the summer school. Becos of her background as a slum girl, she was not welcomed among the other children from other 'great houses'. There was another novice called Regin, hated her typically and caused her many trouble. Speading rumours about her, attacking her with a big bunch of his gang. She didnt recieve much help. She alone had to fend off them herself, but she did has help from Lord Dorrien, Lord Rothen's son. Lord Dorrien showed her some fun about the school and gave her hints on fending off Regin and his gang.. He also brought her to underpassage of the university and taught her how to levitate. And it seems like Lord Dorrien had a liking towards her.. and the friendship between them somehow change to love?
One day, the High lord discovered that Lord Lorlen had discovered his secrets. Akarrin also learnt that Sonea and Lord Rothen also knew that he practised Black magic. Akarrin took actions to stop them from revealing... (oo.. he sounds like the bad guy yeah? HAHA) Akarrin truth-read Sonea and took over the guardianship of Sonea saying that she had great potential. Sonea became the high lord's favourite. Whereas Lord Rothen was heart-broken. Sonea was more than a novice to him.. more like a daughter to him. Frightened by the fact that Akarrin would threaten her with her close friends, she chose to abandon the relationship with Dorrien and didnt have any close friends. Lord Dorrien was a healer in the countryside, he would only return to the guild once a year. That year, during his second return.. he helped out Sonea. He told Sonea to challenge Regin a formal Warrior duel in the Arena.. making it as public as possible.
And Sonea won the battle. Showing the public that she isnt any weak slum girl who would go to the High Lord and seek for help.
On the other hand, Lord Lorlen sent Lord Dannyl to investigate about Akarrin's past.

03 The High Lord
Akarrin showed Sonea books regarding Black magic. It is also know as higher magic. Black magic is drawing power from another living thing for own use. Practising black magic is very easy, Sonea begin to wonder why Akarrin showed her these books. She thought that Akarrin wanted to teach her black magic and make use of her. Sonea feared. She tried to avoid Akarrin as many times as she could. The one day Akarrin brought her out to show her the truth, and told her his story.
Akarrin explains that 8years ago, when he was young, he used 'the research on ancient magic' to sneak out of the guild to explore the world. He stumbled upon this country, Sachaku. Sachuka doesnt belong to the Allied countries. They hated the guild and the magicians. But they have magicians themselves, called as Ichani. They practised black magic,, and these Ichani have slaves for them to draw power from, making them very powerful. Because the the war between Kyralia and Sachaka... they still hated the people of Kyralia very much. They sent spies to the guild and learn about them. That time, Akarrin was young and innocent, he didnt know much about the Ichani until he got caught and became one of the slaves. He became a slave of an Ichani called Dakova. Another Ichani offered to teach Akarrin Black magic, and in return kill Dakova for him. Akarrin had no choice, both choices lead to death. So he learnt black magic and did kill Dakova. Dakova had a brother, Kariko. Both sweared if either were killed, the other would swear and take revenge. Over the years, Kariko knew that the Guild was actually very weak, but he was afraid to fight the guild alone. Now that he know that the Guild banned black magic, and with his gang of Ichani, they can overthrow the Guild easily. Akarrin managed to return to the guild safely. He was made the High lord because of his incredible strength of power. Then, as the High lord, he had many opportunities to do things secretly. Over the years, he managed to get rid of Ichani spies in Kyralia, Imardin.
Knowing this story, Sonea decided to break the Guild's vow and learn black magic and assist Akarrin. Till they were discovered by the Guild and got exiled to Sachaka by the KING.

That's where i've stopped.
I cant make myself stop reading till the book has ended, but i find it rather short. The High lord is the last book, I hope there have been more books.
